Aubrey Smalls is a filmmaker from Phoenix, Arizona. He grew up in a family of circus performers, but still doesn’t know how to juggle.
Inspired by the larger-than-life stories from his childhood, Aubrey is passionate about telling the untold stories of people with dwarfism.
His comedy pilot “Dwarfed” was the runner-up in Issa Rae and Adaptive Studio’s “Get the Greenlight” screenwriting competition. He is also an advisory board member of 1in4 Coalition, and in 2022, was an inaugural member of Goldenvoice and Coachella’s accessibility program.
Aubrey has worked with companies including PBS, Lego, Live Nation, Cirque du Soleil, Ringling Bros. & Barnum and Bailey Circus, University of Santa Barbara, Arizona State University, and Intimacy Coordinating Professionals.
His debut feature, “Dear Average Height People”, is a documentary comedy special that explores the untold stories of dwarfism history. The film has raised $36,000 through community fundraising, and is currently in pre-production.
He also posts educational videos about dwarfism history on social media to over 380,000 followers.
